WAUTOMA, Wis (WAUH)- A Wautoma native is returning to Wautoma as a children’s author this Saturday.

Tracy Phillippi will be participating in a Special Storytime at the Wautoma Public Library on Saturday at 10 am. It’s part of a tour promoting the Wautoma High School graduate’s self-published new book The Wild Island: An Adventure at Isle Royale National Park.

Tracy has two daughters and a son. Simon is 8 years old and each year she goes to Isle Royale with him. After the first trip they looked to see if any children’s picture books had been done about the park and found that none had. So they decided to create their own.

The book is about a boy named Simon who has a tough first day at school and falls asleep. He wakes up at Isle Royale where he encounters some interesting critters and learns about the Island. She says Simon gains confidence from the experience and becomes less overwhelmed by school.

Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase by cash or credit at the Wautoma Public Library. They are also available through Amazon. Tracy Phillippi is an outreach librarian in Cottage Grove.

Hear an interview with Tracy.
