RIPON, Wis (WRPN/WAUH)- The historic Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake has announced a $3 million renovation project, dubbed “Creating an Entrance,” to its adjacent office building at 510 Mill Street.

The project is slated to begin next spring and will transform the venue into an even more vibrant cultural cornerstone for the Green Lake Community. The renovation will revitalize the exterior, gallery, and lounge, creating a welcoming and functional space for both residents and visitors.

The current eight stall parking lot will be transferred into an inviting outdoor area with a sculpture garden and mural, interactive outdoor instruments, covered seating, and a patio space. The project will also include a stunning new façade and digital displays.

The ambitious vision is being funded by a combination of public and private support. The Thrasher Opera House has already raised more than $2 million in committed private gifts.

Thrasher Executive Director Rachael Avery says, “We’re so grateful for the incredible support Thrasher has received since its revival in the 90s. Many rural towns have lost their historic opera houses, so we feel incredibly fortunate that ours has not only survived but truly thrived and gets this chance to add another chapter to its story—thanks to the passion and dedication of the local community and the patrons who’ve grown to love this place.”
