RIPON, Wis. (WRPN) – The historic Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake is thrilled to announce an upcoming performance by Chicago blues and soul blues master Ronnie Baker Brooks.
The performance will take place on Friday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m.
Ronnie Baker Brooks is widely regarded as one of the most dynamic and electrifying bluesmen on the scene today. Born into Chicago blues royalty as the son of the legendary Lonnie Brooks, Ronnie has earned his own place in the genre through decades of hard work, touring, and powerful music that blends traditional Chicago blues with elements of rock, funk, and soul.
A multiple Blues Music Award winner, Brooks is known for his blisteringly innovative guitar work, intensely soulful vocals, and fireball energy on stage. All Music describes him as “a monster guitarist with an ample supply of technique and passion.” Fans can expect a performance that honors the blues legacy he inherited while pushing the genre forward with his own unique, contemporary style.
Brooks’ latest album, “Blues In My DNA,” released on Alligator Records, has garnered critical acclaim and showcases his mastery of the form, earning him three 2025 Blues Music Awards, including Contemporary Blues Album and Song of the Year. Having learned his craft directly from icons like B.B. King, Buddy Guy, and Willie Dixon, Brooks brings a deep connection to the history of the blues to every live show.
The Victor F. Braun Foundation sponsors the show. Additional sponsors include the Oshkosh Community Foundation, the Wisconsin Arts Board, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Hospitality sponsors include Heidel House, Goose Blind Grill & Bar, Sturgeon Spirits, and Sassafras Coffee.
