RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- Gun-deer hunters in some counties who didn’t get their deer during the nine-day season still have another opportunity coming up.
Bill Hankee is a Department of Natural Resources Conservation Warden who works in Fond du Lac County. He says during the Holiday Hunt December 24th through January 1st hunters using their gun-deer license can take antlerless deer only. He says it’s another opportunity for them.
Among the participating counties are Dodge, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Marquette, Waushara, and Winnebago counties. There’s also an extended archery season for deer hunters in those same counties that runs through January 31st, again only antlerless deer can be harvested.
