
RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- An Oshkosh firefighter returning from a work trip was killed in a traffic accident in Indiana Thursday.
The Oshkosh Fire Department said in a Facebook post that Tom Diener was killed and two other firefighters traveling with him, Carter Haen and Robbie Betts were injured.
Diener was a Firefighter/Paramedic with the Oshkosh Fire Department and a Lieutenant with the Town of Sheboygan Fire Department. In a quote Oshkosh Fire Department officials said, “Tom was a dedicated firefighter, volunteer public servant, and a business owner whose work centered on protecting our communities through emergency warning systems. His loss is profound and felt deeply by his family, friends, coworkers, and the fire service communities he so faithfully served.”
A donation page has been established through the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation in memory of Tom Diener and to support Carter Haen and Robbie Betts.
According to that donation page Carter Haen and Robbie Betts, member of the Town of Sheboygan Fire Department, sustained serious injuries and were taken to a trauma center in South Bend, Indiana. They were reported to be in stable condition with a long road to recovery.
