Woman Found Dead During House Fire

RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- Firefighters found an 81-year-old deceased while responding to a house fire at N7849 Lakeshore Drive in the Town of Friendship this morning.

The fire was reported by a nearby resident who called the Fond du Lac County Communications Center at 10:13 am. Seven fire departments, EMS, first-responders, Sheriff’s deputies, North Fond du Lac Police and the State Patrol responded.

When deputies arrived, smoke was coming from the attic. Fire crews made entry into the home and found the woman dead inside a bedroom. The fire appeared to have originated in the basement. It was quickly brought under control and extinguished.

The cause of the fire and the manner of death remain under investigation.
