Former State Representative Townsend Dies

RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- Former State Representative John Townsend passed away last month in Austin, Texas.

He served in the U.S. Navy for a combined 30 years, first active and then reserve duty retiring with the rank of Captain. Townsend worked in marketing and strategic planning for several industrial manufacturers including Giddings & Lewis in Fond du Lac.

While living in Fond du Lac he served on the Fond du Lac City Council and eventually ran for the State Assembly. He represented the 52^nd State Assembly District for 12 years.

He is survived by his wife Maria, two daughters, two granddaughters, and a sister. John Townsend was 87 years old.
