
RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- Markesan has a new Chief of Police. Cody McLean will begin his new role next Wednesday. He has served in law enforcement since 2010, beginning with the Markesan Police Department.
He served as a patrol officer before being promoted to Sergeant in 2015. He has also been an active member of the Green Lake County Combined Tactical Unit. He also served as the Markesan School Resource Officer.
Last Spring Cody joined the City of Beaver Dam Police Department serving there for one year before returning to Markesan. He will be officially sworn in as Markesan Police Chief next Wednesday.
Outside of work he is a youth group leader at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Manchester, organizes youth basketball and football programs for the Markesan School District, and currently coaches 8th grade boys basketball. He is also a certified official for basketball and football, drives for the Southern Green Lake County Ambulance Service, drives a school bus and drives a semi.
He succeeds Markesan Police Chief Doug Wiorek who joined the department last April after retiring from the Milwaukee Police Department.
