WAUTOMA, Wis (WAUH)- Fox Crossing Police say one of their officers was justified in shooting a vicious dog at Fritsch Park March 7th that was attacking another dog and its owner.
Fox Crossing Police have concluded their investigation into the actions of Officer Dominick Texiera who responded along with a community service officer for what was originally a loose dog complaint. Plans were to use a catch pole to capture the dog, but things changed when they saw the male Rottweiler attacking another dog and its owner on a walking trail.
Officer Texiera was familiar with the Rottweiler from previous calls. That dog’s owner Amy Schoch last year got a warning for animal at large, two municipal citations for dog at large, a municipal citation for a vicious dog and failure to license.
The last citation was for an incident last August in which the Rottweiler had gotten out of Schoch’s backyard and attacked a dog and its 65-year-old owner who were walking nearby. Both the owner and her dog required hospitalization.
Schoch told officers after that incident the dog was going to be either euthanized or surrendered after a quarantine period.
