RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- Firefighters responded to house fires in Dodge and Fond du Lac Counties Saturday afternoon.
Waupun Fire Chief B.J. DeMaa says outdoor burning earlier in the day sparked a fire that damaged the exterior of a home at N4134 West Center Road in the Town of Waupun.
Fire crews responded shortly after 12:30 pm and had to open up some walls on the backside of the home to put out some hot spots. No injuries were reported.
Second Fire
Thirteen fire departments responded to a structure fire on State Highway 67 in Dodge County’s Town of Hubbard at 1:43 Saturday afternoon.
The fire started in a detached garage, spread to a camper about 6 feet away, and to the deck of the home. Fueled by high temperatures from the burning garage, gusting winds, and fire from vinyl siding and the deck, the blaze spread to the attic of the home.
Iron Ridge Fire Chief Jason Keller says firefighters contained the fire to the attic, but the fire caused about $200,000 in damages and rendered the home uninhabitable.
No one was injured. Fire crews rescued three cats from the home. One person was evaluated for minor smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
